The closest ski resort to Sofia Airport
Borovets is only an hour and a half from the airport, which makes it a favourite for short ski weekends, for guests who land in the morning and want to ski the same afternoon, and for company events in the mountains. Being close also means a lower transfer price, so a VIP transfer to Borovets often costs about the same as two taxi rides with a change.
The resort sits at the foot of the Rila mountains, and in summer it is the starting point for hikes to Musala peak and the Seven Rila Lakes. We drive guests to Borovets all year round, not only in the ski season.
The route
From Sofia Airport we take the ring road and then the road to Samokov. After Samokov the road climbs to Borovets. This section is short but mountainous, so in snow the chauffeur drives carefully. If you like, we stop in Samokov for coffee or shopping before the resort.
Skis, snowboards and luggage
Skis and snowboards take up space, so tell us when booking how many pairs and what bags you have. Two people with skis usually fit in a sedan; for three or four we recommend a minivan or Mercedes V-Class, and for a group with lots of equipment a van. If you are renting equipment at the resort, you travel with suitcases only and can choose a smaller car.
Winter road conditions
In winter the chauffeur checks the forecast and road conditions before every trip. In heavy snow we leave earlier and allow more time, and if your flight home is early in the morning we plan the departure with a margin. The price is fixed when you book and does not change if the drive takes longer.
